In 1981, the played the role of Laurie yet again for the sequel of “Halloween” titled “Halloween II”. She appeared in three more sequels namely “Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later” in 1998, “Halloween: Resurrection” in 2002, and “Halloween” in 2018. 

She has starred in a wide genre of films ranging from comedy to romance to horror.

She has written several children’s books and she blogs for The Huffington Post. 

She has her own star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She got it in 1998.

Early Life

Jamie Lee Curtis was born to parents Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh on the date of November 22, 1958, in Santa Monica. Her parents were both actors. Her older sister’s name is Kelly Curtis and she is also an actress. She has four half-siblings from which one died in 1994 due to drug overdose.

After her parents divorced in 1962, life was somewhat difficult for her as her father was never around and he was not interested.

Curtis studied at Harvard-Westlake School bad Beverly Hills High School. Curtis graduated high school from Choate Rosemary Hall. In 1976, she decided to study law at the University of the Pacific in California. However,  she dropped out after her first semester to pursue her dreams of becoming an actress.

Career

In 1997, Jamie Lee Curtis made her first TV appearances via television series like “Quincy, M.E.”, “Columbo” and “The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries”.

From 1977 to 1978, she appeared in the main role of Lt. Barbara Duran in the TV series “Operation Petticoat”. She appeared in 23 episodes of the show.

In 1978, she made her film debut via the film “Halloween” in which she played the role of Lurie Strode. The film was an instant hit and Curtis garnered much positive attention. 

In the year 1980, she appeared in three more horror films. By this time, her position as a “scream queen” had already been established. She played the role of Elizabeth Solley in the film “The Fog”, Kim Hammond in “Prom Night” and Alana Maxwell in “Terror Train”.

In 1981, she appeared in two horror films namely, “Road games” and “Halloween II”.

She was the narrator for the documentary “Coming Soon” in 1982.

In 1983, she acted in the comedy film “Trading Places” as Ophelia.

In 1984, she starred in the romantic drama “Love Letters” alongside James Keach.

In 1998, she reprised her role as Laurie Strode in the horror film “Halloween H20: 20 Years Later”. 

In 1999, she played the role of Kelly Foster in the film “Virus”. 

From 2000 to 2015, she acted in fourteen films some of them are “Drowning Mona”, “Daddy and Them”, “Freaky Friday”, “The Kids & I”, “You Again”, “From Up on Poppy Hill” and “Spare Parts” to name a few.

She was the executive producer for the 2017 film “Hondros”.

She was the executive producer for the 2018 horror film “Halloween”. She also reprised her role as Laurie for this film.

In 2019, she played the role of Linda in the mystery film “Knives Out”.

She is to appear as Laurie Strode once again in the film “Halloween Kills” which is set to release in 2021 and is still under post-production. She will also be appearing in the film “Everything Everywhere All at Once”.

She has appeared in more than 20 TV shows from 1977. The most notable is her role as Cathy Munch in the comedy Slasher “Scream Queens” which lasted from 2015 to 2016. She was a part of the main cast. 

Personal Life

Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest got married on December 18, 1984. They have two children together namely Annie and Thomas. She is also the godmother of Jake Gyllenhaal.
